Remdesivir is a nucleoside ribonucleic acid (RNA) polymerase inhibitor.

The chemical name for remdesivir is 2-ethylbutyl N-{(S)-[2-C-(4aminopyrrolo[2,1-f][1,2,4]triazin-7-yl)-2,5-anhydro-d-altrononitril-6-Oyl]phenoxyphosphoryl}-L-alaninate. It has a molecular formula of C27H35N6O8P and a molecular weight of 602.6 g/mol. Remdesivir has the following structural formula:

Remdesivir for injection, 100 mg, is a sterile, preservative-free lyophilized powder that is to be reconstituted with 19 mL of Sterile Water for Injection and diluted into 0.9% saline prior to administration by intravenous infusion. Remdesivir for injection, 100 mg, is supplied in a single-dose clear glass vial. The appearance of the lyophilized powder is white to off-white to yellow.

 

Inactive Ingredients

The inactive ingredients are sulfobutylether-β-cyclodextrin sodium salt (SBECD), Water for Injection, USP, and may include hydrochloric acid and/or sodium hydroxide for pH adjustment. Remdesivir for injection, 100 mg, contains 3 g SBECD.

REMDETAJ™ 100 mg Injection belongs to a group of anti-viral medicines called SARS-CoV-2 nucleotide analogue RNA polymerase inhibitor used to treat coronavirus disease requiring hospitalisation. Coronavirus disease, also known as SARS-CoV-2 (Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Corona Virus 2), is an infectious disease caused by the corona virus.
 
REMDETAJ™ 100 mg Injection contains ‘Remdesivir, which binds to the viral-RNA dependant RNA polymerase enzyme, an enzyme that helps the coronavirus to replicate itself. This inhibits viral replication by premature termination of RNA transcription. Thereby, REMDETAJ™ 100 mg Injection lowers virus load in the body and helps treat the infection.
 
REMDETAJ™ 100 mg Injection should be administered by a healthcare professional; do not self-administer. Based on your medical condition, your doctor will decide for how long you need to take REMDETAJ™ 100 mg Injection. In some cases, you may experience certain side effects such as nausea, increased transaminase levels, and increased prothrombin time. Treatment with REMDETAJ™ 100 mg Injection should be discontinued if the ALT (Alanine aminotransferase) levels are greater than ten times the upper limit of normal. Keep your doctor informed about your health condition and the medicines you are taking to prevent any side effects/interactions.
